After Leyland Motors had set up an Israeli factory at Ashdod under the supervision of the Leyland Ashdod Motor
Corporation two goods models were offered both under the Leyland name. The lightest was the 12 ton GVW Super
Chieftain which was no more than a development of an Albion model which bore the same name with a locally built
Ashdod Vin fibreglass cab and 106bhp 6 cylinder diesel engine. The heavier model was the 20 ton gross Super Beaver
with a 200bhp 6 cylinder diesel engine. This could be had with optional Pneumo-Cyclic transmission and was joined by
various passenger chassis virtually identical to their British counterparts. Production ceased when the factory was given
over to the assembly of American Mack trucks under a different company name.
