In 1966, a 122K60 prototype was shipped to Israel for testing, where it was mounted onto an M4A3E8 chassis for firing tests. It underwent testing in Israel from 1966 until 1970 before being returned to Tampella, and the gun was scrapped in the '90s after the Finnish Artillery Museum refused to accept it... Tampella was involved both with mounting the 155mm M-68 cannons onto the Sherman chassis (the L-33 Ro'em), but was also involved with the turreted version mounted on the Centurion, what we know as the Soltam M-72.

They arent M4A3E8 based, and...

Neither of them are M4A3E8 based (and yes, them as in plural because the prototypes are built upon 2 different vehicles)

The top one is clearly based off of an M50 Tomat, and not only is it clearly an M4A4T based hull, you can also clearly see that the angle of the front plate proves it was a small hatch sherman, and M4A3E8s were only large hatch.

The bottom one also seems to be an M4A4T base however it is unclear if it was converted straight from an M-3 Sherman to the prototype or it went as an M50 or M50 Toamt beforehand, however i believe it was an M50 because of the fact theres an added place for a towing cable on the transmition cover, and it was a degem alef specifically as theres a 3 piece transmition cover, that was converted in quite a rushed way to use VT-8 Cummins engine (you can tell by the HVSS)

You can tell that they are based on two different tanks becuase of the sprockets, they differ from one another.

on another note, the guy who posted the photo on top in the World of Tanks forum, is Life_In_Black, which i talk to regularly and im in contact with him, so if you want to i can get you two in contact if you ever need it :D

Thanks. You are right, the top one is definitely M4A4-based M50 and the bottom one looks like M4A4 too.
