Nov. 19th, 2014 10:43 amThe Al Jahra Force was a Kuwaiti military shock troop striking force formed by Major General Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on October 15, 1973, after the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War. The force, consisting of more than 3,000 men, was organized into a tank battalion, an infantry battalion, two companies of artillery, an anti-aircraft company and a company of the Kuwait 25th Commando Brigade. It also included medical, engineering and signal units. The brigade remained active until the end of September 1974, and then returned to Kuwait after a farewell ceremony in Damascus.
The force was equipped with Vickers tanks {эх, не раздобыли экземпляр для Латруна}, Ferret armoured car, and Alvis Saracen. The Artillery Units had Mk F3 155mm self-propelled guns for the first company while the second company had 120 mm mortars. The Anti-tank units had Carl Gustav recoilless rifle. The anti-aircraft company was equipped with triple barrel anti-aircraft guns 20 mm {это ?}.

The Bahraini provided two divisions to join the war in North Africa just before the Second Battle of El Alamein: the First Cavalry, led by General Benjamin Segal, and the Second Infantry, led by General Aaron Landberg. Both divisions were mentioned in dispatches in late 1942.

За пределами Вики про этих полководцев никто никогда не слышал.

Date: 2014-12-14 09:08 am (UTC)

Date: 2015-01-07 01:14 pm (UTC)kuwait participated in the war with a single mechanized "Liwa-mujahfal" (brigadized group), it was called the Al-Jahra force, it composed of roughly 3,000 men in a tank battalion equipped with Vickers MBT tanks, an infantry battalion, two arty companies, one with Auf1 155mm SPGs and the other with 122mm guns (uncertain of type), a single air-defense company with 270 personnel, a mughaweer (commando) company, an AT company with carl-gustav rifles, several pioneer and medical field units
they were equipped with daimler ferrets, alvis saladins, alvis saracens, vickers MBTs, and numerous other vehicles
I can't find any decent source on their participation and battles, but they suffered 37 killed in the war, and remained in the theater until 1974, when they were called back.
